A. Believe it or not, most Indian home owners still do not buy ready-made beds, and therefore, mattresses too need to customized as per the bed size, which may not necessarily conform to standard sizes.
So unless the buyer remembers the mattress size and thickness when purchasing bedsheet, there is a big chance that she may end up with a product which does not meet the requirement.
B. Many domestic bedding manufacturers use American standards of measurement when referring to their sheets as King, Queen, California King, etc.
In case you are someone who does not check the size (in inch or cm), and makes a purchase decision solely based on non-numerical description, you might again regret your shopping.

One of the most important variables in choosing the bedsheet size, is the thickness of
your mattress. We usually consider mattress thickness of 6 inches and about 6 inches on either side for tucking in the bedsheet.
This means, that your bedsheet should be at least 20-24 inches bigger on both sides (length and width) than the mattress!!!
These calculations would however change if your mattress thickness is more or less than 6 inches.
